World War 2 meets Star Wars Photomanipulation part 1 (with Video of the Before and After Images)

Photomanipulations and concepts by George Pontino Jr.
WWII Photos from web archives
Star wars characters: owned by Disney and Lucasarts

Welcome to my relaunched blog Pixelrocket, now with easy to reach archives and online stores that sells my original recoded music and lots of merchandise like t-shirt, pillows, posters with my designs, to name a few. (See those links above? Just choose a marketplace you're comfortable with or click this link.)
Are you a fan of Star Wars? Now that the DVD and Blue Ray release of Solo: A Star Wars Story has arrived, are you still  skeptical  to watch it?  Honestly, for me, with some hidden flaws, the movie didn't disappoint. I got hooked watching the 2018 flick considered a failure in the blockbuster office.  I was entertained despite the some negative reviews from critics and fans alike.  Personally, Solo is better than The Last Jedi, for me. (continued below)

Leyte landing with the BFF Droids R2-D2 and C-3PO

In this blog, since we're talking Star Wars, I'm sharing my photomanipulations that revolved around in the theme if World War 2 and Star Wars happened in an alternate universe. So near yet so far far away. In an era of black and white photos, WWII was captured in tragic drama, to say the least. But, somehow, some people, like me, are inspired and find time to make some memes and stuff  like turning a brutal history into a satirical fantasy. The quest is to entertain. So, don't take it seriously if I've altered history through Adobe Photoshop because there are tons out there that are also being manipulated in the name of comedy. So, as for me, I've done some of my own World War 2 meets Star Wars versions from Han Solo to the Droids to Rebel Spaceships to the Sarlacc Pit and more. This is just part 1. If you are not a fan of Star Wars, hopefully you will still appreciate the power of photomanipulation using Adobe Photoshop. TRIVIA: Did you know one of the original creators of Photoshop, Thomas Knoll, has a wide involvement in the visual effects of Star Wars movies? Not only he was the visual effects supervisor for the prequels and 1997 editions of the original trilogy, he was also the one who helped pitch the story of Rogue One.  He is  was also the writer and executive producer. Thanks Mr. Knoll! He had a cameo in The Episode 1: The Phantom Menace as a fighter pilot.

WATCH: LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Fighter Unboxing and Building (VIDEO)

One of Star War's popular starships is the X-wing Starfighter T-65B varation which is a versatile craft used by the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War in the Episode 4: A New Hope, Battle of Yavin and Battle of Endor. The newer model is the T-70 X-wing Starfighter used by Poe Dameron in the latest saga The Force Awakens. As part of Lego's line of Microfighters, this classic X-wing comes in few pieces which is, of course, faster to assemble. Included in the small box is a pilot with a laser pistol and an Astromech head. For live construction, watch the the video above.

WATCH: Painting Rey of Star Wars Using Coffee (VIDEO)

Artwork by George Pontino Jr based on Star Wars photos.
Owner: Disney and Lucasarts

By now you know that STAR WAR's Rey is the new epitome of girl power and yes, she's become an instant crush to fans old and new alike. With all those memes about her surfacing in fun websites like 9gag and apps like Instagram, she's has become an iconic character for this flick about a galaxy from far far away.  Indeed, she's a strong female character with more than a pretty face. Thanks to British actress Daisy Ridley for bringing our heroine to life.  In Star Wars The Force Awakens trailers, she is introduced as a resilient survivor in the harsh landscapes of Jakku who meets the astromech BB-8 and Stormtrooper-turned Rebel Finn.  In the Last Jedi, she met Skywalker finally and get to harness power to finally face some Republic guys specially the Darth Vader fanatic, Kylo Ren.
To celebrate a new saga, I painted Rey using Nescafe Gold coffee on paper as my media, a trending art that's so innovative and organic-looking. Of course, you will see a different view of coffee once you finish doing you coffee art. WATCH: The Almost Real Lightsaber Toy I've Ever Seen (VIDEO)

What happens when friends get to test drive an almost real lightsaber that comes with a built-in sound effect and a light that turns on and off just like in the movies? The result is fun.
Made of a special glass to handle the light effect, this lightsaber is not for kids to play as it seems to vulnerable to breakage. But when handled with care on a test drive, it will really leave a good impression even to non-Star Wars fans. Check out the video above how Luke's blue laser sword and Darth Maul's menacingly red double lightsaber acts in fast and slow motion video edit mode.

WATCH: Meet my BB-8 (Probably, The Best Star Wars Toy There is) (VIDEO)

Blog and Video Production by George Pontino Jr.

We can't deny  that Star Wars: The Force Awakens has revealed too many spoilers before its cinema release. Disney and Lucas Art's strategy is to introduce new characters via trailers before the big film so people can collect toys earlier. It's a tried toy marketing strategy.  The Droid BB-8, its massive popularity even overshadowed the lovable astromech R2D2.  Powered by Sphero and other toy makers like Hasbro, the football-like droid comes to real life in different sizes. For Sphero, BB-8 is a mini version that fits on a kid's palm and  comes with powerful traitware (behavior software). It's an App-enabled figure that can be controlled via Android or iOS apps. For Hasbro, BB-8 is in a larger size akin virtually akin to that in the film and it comes with a remote control.
